Sunflower Skills Club

Sunflower Skills Club is a creative, online community and skills share formed in response to the Covid-19 lockdown. It was co-founded by Beth Sitek, a founder of The Sunflower Foundation, and Caz Watson, a visual artist and activist. It aims to bring people together whilst raising money for The Sunflower Foundation and Cancer Research UK by people sharing skills online, through workshops and panel discussions. Each week involves different skills being shared from a variety of individuals. The content ranges from arts and crafts, baking and recipes, yoga and workout videos to well-being tips and mindfulness exercises; generally things to keep you busy and healthy during lockdown!

On Sunday 17th of May, Sunflower Skills Club had their first online fundraiser which was part of a new fundraising series they are calling ‘Sunflower Sessions’. The first Sunflower Sessions was in collaboration with London based creative collective, HOUSE OF RHYMES, and this was a live poetry event which was broadcast on Instagram live. The event involved over 15 spoken word artists and poets and raised over £100 for The Sunflower Foundation and Cancer Research UK. For the next Sunflower Sessions, they are currently planning workshops and discussions with a range of artists and companies who make their own work and run their own businesses. This is aimed to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

More information about the Sunflower Skills Club can be found on Instagram at @sunflowerskillsclub. You don’t need to have a crazy skill to get involved; this is all about bringing people together and raising both money and awareness of our work and what we do!
